make says "missing separator" on CentOS 7

Description

I'm trying to build DIVINE version 4.4.2 from the source tarball on CentOS Linux release 7.7.1908 (Core), but make fails with the following message:
Makefile:1: * missing separator. Stop.

This does not happen on Debian 10 for example.

The problem turned out to be too old version of GNU make (3.82). With 4.2.1, DIVINE compiles just fine.
